ENEMY INTERNEES
The supply of machinery and plant, to enemy internees to enable them Io iiuinufacture paua shell ornaments was the subject of notice of a question given by Mr. Sim (Opposition, Rotorua) in the House yclscrday. He asked the Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, to inform the House who had authorized this, ami snid that it had seriously injured flic trade of. the disabled soldiers. Mr. Sim also inquired if an increased supply of petrol were gran led to the fishermen of Stewart. Island to enable supplies of paua shell to be made available to the disabled soldiers. and who had diverted such supplies of shell from the disabled soldiers Io enemy internees on Somes Island. He also asked if the Prime Minister would explain what was done with the profits from the work of the internees, and if it were a fact that, after the supply of shell Io the internees had been slopped they refused Io sell their niaebinerv and plant. Mr. Sim asked if the Prime Minister would sec that, stieh plant was made available to the disabled soldiers and if lie would arrange for them to be trained in the use of such ..modern .niacliinory.
