CANBERRA, October 16. . For the first time in Australian political history the non-Labour parties are approaching unity on an Australia-wide The objectives are to provide a liberal approach to current problems iu an effort to break away from the conservatism which has decimated anti-Labour parties in State and Federal elections in recent years and attract the middle-class element, young people, and particularly returned servicemen. The proposed party is modelled largely on the structure of the Labour Party, with a permanent bead outside larliament and a controlling Federal council. The main inspiration for the conference was the defeat of the Labour .Party in the recent referendum to alter the Constitution, which is interpreted by nouLtrbour organizers us evidence that a considerable body of Australian opinion is awaiting a liberal leadership.
