NEW YORK, September 30. Willie Pep gained the decision over Chalky Wright in 11 15-round featherweight title Ixiut in Madison Square Garden. Pep's dazzling speed, his lightning left, jabs, and superior ring generalship kept his veteran opponent off balance throughout. Pep wrested the title from Wright in November, 1942.
