CUSTOMS REVENUE
Figures For September And Nine Months Net Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington last month shows a decrease compared with September, 1943 Sales tax has increased, but beer duty and war tax are down. For the nine months of the current year increases are shown under all heads. Last month net Customs revenue totalled £221,058, compared with £224,429 in September, 1943, a decrease of £3371. For the nine months of the current year the figures are £2,138,852 and £2,036,943 respectively, an increase of £101,909. Sales tax last month amounted to £117,830, against £109,864 in September, 1943, an increase of £7966. For the nine months’ period the totals are £940,892 and £847,218 respectively, an increase of £93,674. Beer duty in September totalled £17,453, compared with £20,062 in September, 1943, a decrease of £2609. For the nine months the totals are £161,986 and £143,645 respectively, an increase of £18,341. War tax collections last month amounted to £401,767, against £403,179 in September, 1943,-a decrease of £1412. For the nine months the totals are £3,453,567 and £3,258.140 .respectively, an increase of £195,427.
