Final Gallops At Te Rapa Dominion Special Service. HAMILTON, September 28. There was considerable activity at Te Rapa this morning when the final trials of horses engaged at tho Ohinemurl meeting at Paeroa on Saturday took place. The poles were about 50ft. out from the rails and the going was in good order. Those to shape best over a sprint distance were Phaleron Sign and Gunman, while. Sir Standfast, whoso immediate mission is the Mitchelson Cup, took the honours over a round. Sir Standfast, assisted by Extra over the initial seven furlongs, ran once round in 2.7}. They ran the first Half mile in 54, the five furlongs in 1.8 3-5, the six in 1.22} and the seven in 1.37. Sir Standfast has been working well and should strip in fine fettle for the Mitchelson Cup. Town Survey worked at strong half pace over a round and Expanse and Boswell Hill were also restricted to pace tasks. Jolly Fox and Foxrose were companions over half a mile In 53 4-5, the first three in 38}. Jovial Princess and the Cambria Park filly Idris ran five furlongs In 1.8, the half mile in 54. Royal Musk, who is to contest the Poland Cup on Saturday, was shading Marinoto at the completion of the effort in 2.8 1-5. They ran the half mile in 55, and the six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Pink Shell, improved with racing, ran alone to the five In 1.6 1-5. which was equal to tho best time of the morning. Colonel Vaals followed in 1.7}. Captain Courageous sprinted throe furlongs down the back where the going is heavier in 40 1-5.

Peter Douglas (Hayes) jumped two hurdles down the back, and Sir Tnnoss (Mclnally) negotiated tho brush double twice.

First Since May. ~ When Air Port won the President 3 Handicap at the Thames meeting on Saturday he was having his first start since Miiy. Ho was almost the outsider of the field and won from end to end. He was much less fancied than his stablemate, Night Comedy, who was unable to do better than fourth. Air Port and • Night Comedy are both trained by Mrs. E. M. Sloane' nt Te Rapa, but they race in different Interests and therefore were not bracketed on the totalizator. Air Port reached the front early and remained there. He was always travelling nicely and In the end won well from Babrow, who ran one of his best races. Hilly Poach, always well placed on the rails, held on solidly at the finish for third, and Night Coniedv finished on for fourth abend of La Fillette, .Sir Dingle nnd Boxsen. The favourite. Sir Dingle, had every chance, being nicely placed nt the turn and then failing to finish with any dash.
