PALMERSTON NORTH. .September 28. With a number of horses already on their way to the Hawke's Bay meeting (the remainder leave tonight) 'there was not a great deal to interest spectators at Awapuni this morning. Of most interest were some schooling bouts over the hurdles. 'Before the breakfast interval Aristocrat was sent over three flights and shaped well. Signal Light and Gold Bridge went well over four hurdles. Gold Bridge has improved. Anglo-Irish went much better than Kinsman In a bout over three hurdles. The pegs on the course proper were about 40ft. out for the galloping and the trnck was in fair order. Don Mac and Bay Robe left five furlongs behind in 1.11. The two-year-old Dui}Jicity, ran three furlongs in 41 4-5. She is to run In the Hastings Stakes. Langue d’Or and Slval were sent over a mile which took 1.56. Vera Lynn took 1.12 to run five furlongs, but wna not after time. -She is working much quieter than formerly. Phalaria showed his usual burst of speed when he dashed over three furlongs in 39. Salndos in a similar task took 40 2-5. Broiefieid was another to go over this distance, taking 45. The hurdler Lightfair covered a mile in 1.57 1-5, tlie last three furlongs in 45. Solver and Dunbar were companions over a mile which was run in 1.50, the last three furlongs in 42. Sir Bradbury, looking improved by Ills race on Saturday. left sewen furlongs behind in 1.45. Lady Spiral ran the same distance In 1.40 1-5. ClaSsform and Greenfeast worked nicely over seven furlongs in 1.40. the last three in 43.
