Promise Of Fair Trial Dominion Special Service. INVERCARGILL, September 26. Several Southland horses are booked to make their first appearance of the season at the Otago Hunt meeting this week. The stablemates Fair Trial and Wild Cry look well, but they have not done mlieh fast work, and will require some racing before being seen at their best. Fair Trial won five races last season and was out of the money only once in nine starts. He promises to earn further distinction as a stayer this term. His preparation lias been planned with the NewZealand Cup as his main objective. Wild Cry is one of the biggest three-year-olds ever to be put into training at Invercargill, and it appearances and stylo of galloping mean anything lie will develop into a good winner. This son of Pink Coat made his only appearance last season in the McLean Stakes, but he was suffering from a cold at the time and was turned out for the remainder of the season. He is to contest the Dunedin Guineas and will have a preliminary run at the Otago Hunt meeting. Roval Lancer is making good progress and is. to .run nt the Otago Hunt meeting. but it may bo some time before lie is seen to advantage. Psalm, a well-grown chestnut filly by Salmagundi from Venltc, has been pleasing in sprints. She .appears to lie in forward condition for her engagement in Hie McLean Stakes and looks certain to give a good account of herself. Tlie stablematcs Royal Chorus and Royal Brief arc in good health and condition and are training on satisfactorily, but I ties’ may need some racing. They are to race nt the two Wingatul meetings. Invulnerable is being kept in regular work, but the leg that caused bls breakdown last' senspn Is again causing trouble and ho lias been lame oft and on lately otter working. _____
