THE KING’S MESSAGE
Parisian Achievement (British Official Wireless.) (Received August 25, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, August 24. His Majesty the King has sent the following message to General de Gaulle:. “It was with deep emotion that I received the news that the citizens of Paris had expelled the invader from their city and joined hands with the armies of liberation which are pushing the enemy beyond its 'boundaries. I rejoice with your Excellency and with the whole of the people of France in this hour of their triumph, as I sorrowed with them through their long years of suffering.” The King, in a telegram to General Eisenhower, states: “To you and all in the Allied Expeditionary Force I send my warmest congratulations on the glorious victories you have already gained in France. All my people will join me in thanking God for the outstanding success vouchsafed the Allied arms.” The Lord Mayor of London sent his greetings to General Koenig, “in this supreme moment of victory,” saying: “We look forward to an even greater capital of a new and even more glorious France. We of London salute the citizens of Paris.”
