Japanese Losses In Pacific WASHINGTON, August 23. Two navy search Liberators on Tuesday attacked a Japanese convoy consisting of three cargo ships escorted by two destroyers near Chichi Jinia, says a Pacific Fleet communique. Two enemy cargo ships were sunk and a third left on fire. One Liberator was lost.
Japanese shipping has been the main target for General MacArthur's bombers. In attacks ranging from Palau to the Philippines, South-west Pacific bombers sank a small freighter nnd destroyed or damaged another small freighter and three coastal vessels. Raids were also made on Davao and on Halniahcra.
