Maintaining their pressure on Japanese bases lietween New Guinea and tlie Philippines. General MacArthur s air forces made a record raid on Ilalmahera. They destroyed eight parked planes and inflicted other extensive damage when lhey dropped 135 tons of. bombs. In Flores Sen Ibroe enemy coastal vessels were destroyed, while in the southern Philippines. Davao, on Mindanao, was lignin bombed, near misses being scored again st an snoo-t<m freighter.
