RAILWAY TRAVEL TO BE ARRANGED
Postponed Conferences
An announcement that organizations which had desired to hold conferences but which had not been granted permits for their members to travel would be given opportunity to do so during September, October and November, was made byi the Minister of Railways, Mr. Semple, in a statement last night. He said that a number of conferences had been held, the members attending having made their own arrangements for travel. In fairness to those organizations which, had endeavoured to conform to the spirit of the Railways Department’s restrictions, it was felt they should be given opportunity of holding their conferences. '“lt will, of course, be necessary, to arrange a suitable allocation of dates in order to avoid any congestion, more particularly on the principal express trains in both islands,” said Mr. Semple.. Immediate application should therefore be made to the General Manager of Railways, so that suitable dates can be arranged." The Minister emphasized that suitable arrangements could be made provided the number of delegates was not excessive. If this was carried out. it was not expected that any great difficulty should be experienced in dealing witli the various conferences.
