LATE BRIGADIER HARGEST

Feeling reference was made by the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom. Sir Harry Batterbee, on the death of Brigadier Hargest when speaking at the Napier and Hastings Rotary Clubs. “I am glad to have this opportunity to nay my tribute to the late Brigadier Hargest. whom New Zealanders, everywhere arc mourning today,” said Sir Harry, “and to express my sense of the great loss which the country has suffered in his untimely death. Brigadier Hargest was a great New Zealander, possessing in a very high degree the qualities which distinguish New Zealanders, simplicity, integrity, courage, determination and initiative. The qualities which marked his life he showed in the manner of his death. He had rendered great service to his country in both pence and war. niid was universally respected and trusted.” . ~ Speaking as tile representative of the United Kingdom. Sir Harry expressed deep sympathy to Mrs. Hargest and the members of the family.
