Vice-Regal. Government House. Wellington. August 2.3. This morning his Excellency the Gov-ernor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council. Later his Excellency opened the annual meeting of the New Zealand Navy League War Council. This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall was present at a tea given by Sir Charles and Lady Norwood to the women workers of the Navy League committees. Miss M. Onkeley has arrived at Government House.
Police sergeant. W. J. B. Grainger, Huntly, is being transferred to Levin. Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, and Lady Batterbee returned to Wellington from Napier yesterday. The Hou. W. 11. Mclntyre, M.L.C.. who has been chairman of the Nelson Education Board for 15 years, has been unanimously re-elected chairman. Mr. J. J. Maher, Mungaroa, has been elected chairman of the provisional com mittee of the Federation of Town Milk Producers formed as I lie result of a conference in Wellington attended by Nelson, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch aud Dunedin delegates
