YOUTH SERVICES
A report by the Auckland section of the N.Z. Secondary Schools’ Association formulating a basis for the development of youth services for post-school adolescents was approved by the. conference of the association in Wellington last night- ' , , , The report recommended that a controlling body be set up representative of city and borough councils aud youth organizations, including the post-primary schools, and that this body should appoint a youth director. The youth director s duties should include the organization of leisure activity groups. Youth centres, with control, so far as possible, in the hands of youth, should be introduced gradually in the. first instance, the report suggests, beginning in the most closely-populated centres, and that their finance should be the joint concern of the local bodies and the State.
