OBITUARY
Mr. Albert Smith Mr. Albert Smith, manager of the Liverpool State miue, who was seriously affected by gas in the mine on August 14, collapsed and died suddenly, at his home early yesterday afternoon, it is believed as tin after-effect' 1 of that experience, according to a “Dominion” Special Service message from Greymouth. He was under oxygen and medical treatment for two hours at that time before be recovered. Mr. Smith, wlio was aged 58 and a native of Denniston, bad been associated with the mining industry all his life, having been manager of the Millerton, Denniston, Linton ad Liverpool mies. He held his present postiion from 1936 to 194 t and from 1942 till his death. His brothers include Mr. George Smith, manager o fthe Benneydale Colliery, and Mr. Joseph Smith, manager of the Hotorwaro mine.
