Father’s Lucky Escape For a long time Mother had been urging Father to buy a piano from Begg’s and to let the children learn music. At last it was agreed that he would take her to Begg’s to select an instrument. But before the appointed day arrived Father found a bargain piano at a sale. Mother called to have a look at it:. She wa.s delighted, but she said, “Of course it’s badly in need of tuning.” And here’s where Dad’s luck stood by him. He cautiously said: “I'll send a tuner to fix it up and when that’s done we’ll conclude, the bargain.” Well to cut a long story short, the tuner reported a faulty plank which made accurate tuning impossible. The deal was off. Dad is still thanking his stars for a lucky escape. “Now,” said Mother, “suppose wo go Io Begg’s as arranged in the first place. All Begg’s pianos are guaranteed in good order.”
