(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 2'2. A new temporary agreement between the Waterfront Commission and the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union will come into force tomorrow following a nine-day dispute during which the . men refused to discharge slings containing more than 12cwt. of cargo on to tractordrawn trailers. Under the agreement, slings not exceeding one ton will be used in certain cases, and at other times the weight will he limited to 18cwt., but the employers will be called on to engage more labour when the weight exceeds 12cwt. The ton slings will be used only when a single package or packages of the same tvpe of cargo are being discharged. In addition to tlie two extra men previously employed in a hold when slings of more than 12ewt. were being made up, the agreement provides for an extra man in the shed to each gang handling slings in cases where numerous different marks on cargo make sorting difficult or when the work becomes harder because of congested shed space. Tlie additional man is to be emnloved with tlie wharf gang.
