R.N.Z.A.F. Band
Sir,—Recently, somewhere in the South-west Pacific, we Americans had the privilege of hearing 'he . R.N Z.A.l'. Band. W.O. Dick Simpson did a fine job as conductor. After the band finished the orchestra took over, under the able direction of W.O. Theo Walters, who displayed not only his musical abilities but the ability to make us laugh as wellThe music from both the baud and the orchestra was first class. Squadron L\ader Duncan was in charge of the entire detail. That night after the entertainment quitv? a few of us came to the conclusion that it would be a fine thing if the R.N..V.A.F. Band could be sent on a tour of th« United States. I lived in Wellington. New Zealand, several months, and undoubtedly it was one of the most pleasant experiences of my life. Ihe people of New Zealand were very kind to us. and I am sure that she will have many new friends in America after thy war is over.—I am, etc., Ist LIEUI MAVERICK, JR., U.S.M.C.R. San Francisco. August 11.
