Harrier Championships

Nearly 100 harriers, representing seven clubs, turned out at Silverstream on baturday for the Wellington senior and junior cross-countrv championships. The course (C 4 miles for the senior event and 3 i-b for the junior) was in fairly good condition after the previous day’s rain. 'lhe Scottish club won both the senior and junior sections easily. A. 11. Geddes (Scottish) ran well to claim the senior championship by 100 yards from I. McDowell (University). The title-holder, T. Bartlett (Scottish) was third. In the junior event P. TJiljoch (Scottish) won from. A. Pay (Scottish) bv 100 yards. •McDowell, who won tbo New Zealand university title at Christchurch recently, was second from Geddes by more than b>o yards at the end of the first lap, with Bartlett third and Busby fourth. Geddes maintained his lead throughout the second lap, and McDowell got uo closer than 100 yards. Busby finished fourth, and the veteran, F. Silver, running for Air Force, was fifth. The onlv outside club to enter a team was Kia Tore, Masterton.
