Allied Occupation Of Germany PRESIDENT’S PLANS (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Received August 20, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 19. President Roosevelt stated yesterday that a general understanding had been reached With Britain aild Russia regarding the occupation of Germany. He said he expected to confer soon with Mr. Churchill, but declined to give details. The President answered in the affirmative when asked whether the sections of Germany thnt were to be occupied by encli nation were part oi the details, and said that the European Advisory Commission had worked on this matter. . Asked whether a similar understanding existed with China about the occupation of Japan, Mr. Roosevelt said there was nothing on paper. He recalled his talkwith President Cbiaitg Kai-shek, and said there would be no problem in reaching such an understanding. Mr. Roosevelt intends to meet Mr. Churchill in London or Paris., perhaps both, some time before the American elections iu November, says the New York Times” Washington correspondent. Xhß President will be accompanied by his wife, indicating the possibility.of a largescale conference involving social formal!ties. The exact details of the journey are tentative, but Mr. Roosevelt recently told intimate friends that he was planning to visit the liberated area of Europe. The White .House secretary, Mr. Stephen Early, denied the report that Mr. Roosevelt plans to go to London or Paris this autumn. Mr. Roosevelt has announced that.be is sending Mr. Donald Nelson and MajorGeneral Hurley on a mission to China to discuss supply, military and economic problems with President Chiang Kaishek. They will depart shortly and will be in China for several mouths. Mr. Charles Wilson will act as chairman of the War Production Board during Mr. Nelson’s absence.
