Army Beat Waterside
Army? who hud won the B grade division beat Waterside, 10-6, in the Rugby League’s knock-out competition at Newtown Park on Saturday. Waterside dominated the scrums and secured a monopoly of the ball from them, but Army were too good for them on the general run of play. With a greater share of tlie ball, they would have won by a considerably wider margin. During the second spell Stewart, just after scoring for Army, suffered a probable fracture of a foot aud was sent to hospital. At the end of the first spell the teams were on level terms, Mclntyre ■ having kicked two penaltygoals- for Waterside and G. Crossland two for Army. Soon after the resumption of play Burns, tlie Army centre,- made a very fast run to draw the opposition and send McDonald racing over in the corner. Soon afterward Stewart jinked bis way over. Both tries were not converted. Toward (lie close of the game Waterside were battling hard, but unable to penetrate the Army defence, though Mclntyre kicked his third penalty-goal. Aotea brat Central, 8-0. There was no score in tlie first spell. Toward Hie end of the second Andrews made a good ruu to score in a bandy position. Greculands’s kick missed. Later l.’nruta scored after a tricky run. and Greenlatids converted. R.'tndwiek A beat Newtown, 29-2, at Randwick. Scorers for Randwick were: Matson (3), Pearce (2), Millar'and Fleming. The last-named converted four tries. Skelton ( kicked a penalty-goal for Newtown. „ ... ' Petone bent Randwick B. L“l2. Miramar beat Hokowhitu-Atu by default.
