CHINESE ATTACK

Before dawn on Tuesday the Chinese attacked Tencchung from four sides and by nightfall had gained additional footholds south-west and north-west of the city. Other Chinese penetrated the eastern outskirts of Lungling. The Chinese communique reports unusually heavy fighting in the outer ring of Hcngyang. General Chcnnault’s Air Fore is pressing incessant attacks which have already blunted the enemy’s striking power in the Hengyang area. The Japanese launched a series of attacks 10 miles to the southward, but have not made anv progress against stiff Chinese resistance.
