DAY OF PRAYER
Call To Presbyterians
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 18.
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, the Rt. Rev. D. C. Herron, has issued the following appeal in connexion with the special day of prayer on Sunday, September 3: — “Tiie Moderator of the General Assembly of (he Presbyterian Church of New Zealand calls upon the congregations of that church, in obedience to, the appointment of His Majesty tlie King, to make Sunday, September 3, a day of prayer and dedication. Throughout this Dominion, as throughout the Empire, in days when, at least in the west, the war seems moving toward its close, there needs to be awakened anew the realization that only as we seek nml obey the guidance of Almighty God can our nation and her allies hope to maintain unity of purpose and be given wisdom to (leal aright with the stupendous problems confronting tlie United Nations. Let us pray that the days of bloodshed and destruction may lie shortened and that God will give the leaders and people humility and right judgments concerning the future.”
