GOOD JUMPING AT AWAPUNI

Foxiana Reappears Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N.. June 1. The tracks at Awapunl remain excellent for this time of year and they provided good going this morning when candidates for the Wanganui meeting were given their semi-final gallops. The jumpers provided most interest and there were several good bouts over the hurdles. The stablemates, Noble Fox and Mountain Fox, were paired over four fences, and they both went well. Indian Sign, Young Charles and Abdicate figured in an interesting bout. The first-named jumped splendidly and so did Young Charles, who went more generously than usual. Colonel Bogey, who Is looking a picture, was sent over six flights and gave a lute exhibition. He never looked like making a mistake. Authoress and Red Glare figured in an excellent ibout. The pace was on and both jumped well. Authoress being slightly more impressive. , Another splendid bout was witnessed when Moderate. Ascot Bloom and Park Light went over four hurdloa. All jumped splendidly and gave a fine exhibition. Home Rule was given a lesson over six flights. He jumped slowly and Is still in the learners’ class. , A surprising visitor was the steeplechaser Foxiana. He has done a tair amount of work on the roads, and was sent over the country with the exception of the logs and sod wall. He has not forgotten the art. and might be given a run in the Manawatu Steeplechase. The poles on the course proper were about 00 feet out. Te Kawiti and Alrlie moved nleely over a .mile lu l-u 3 Iw.tue last three in 43. Lightfair and. Coaste came home from the six furlongs in 1.39. Sir Bradbuty showed his customary speed when covering five furlongs In 1.7 Lotto and Duncannon who are now stablemates. left half a mile behind in ;*•. Bendemeer, Vernon and Lady Millian pleased by the wav in which they galloped seven furlongs in 1.40. Pennvroynl and Observatory were together at the end of six furlongs in I—4. Sovereign Lad. who is improving, ran seven furjongs in 1.41.
