POLISH APPRECIATION
Gesture Of Friendship (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyrignt.) (Special CorrespoiKlent.) LONDON, May 31. ■ Gratitude to the New Zealand. Government for inviting 700 Polish children to the Dominion for the duration of the war was expressed by Madame Raczynska, wife of the Polish Ambassador, at a recention by the Polish Australia and New Zealand Society, of which Mrs. Fraser was a guest of honour. Madame Raczynska said : “This friendly gesture by New Zealand is one more instance of the sympathy which the British Empire feels for my country. She added that in a haven of peace the children would be restored to health. Their memories of 'New Zealand after they returned to Poland would create new bonds of friendship. ’ Mrs. Fraser, in reply, said that New Zealand was only too delighted to give hospitality to the children. Her one hope was that they would not be thoroughly spoiled, since everyone was taking so much interest in their arrival. 1 can assure you they will have a wonderful time,” she added. “We have a B preparations made. The children will be very well looked after and restored to health.” It is understood that the age of the children ranges from seven to 13. They are all refugees, and are at present in Iran ready to embark at Ispahan when transport is made aavilable by the Americans.
