LONDON. May 20. Wing Commander D. J. Scott. D. 5.0.. D FC and Bar. Hokitika, who has been awarded the 0.8. E. for gallantry; and complete disregard of his own safety in reselling a pilot from a burning aircraft, is believed to bo the first New Zealand fi-htei- pilot Io win this decoration iu Britain in this war. It was mainly as commanding officer of the New Zealand Typhoon squadron that he made a name in lhe Fighter Command. Ho rose, from flight sergeant to squadron leader in nine months and then became wing commander and very soon an airfield commander. He is one of New Zealand’s leading aces. -
