MEN ON FURLOUGH

Welcome Club Dance Men on furlough from the Second NZE F. and previously returned men from overseas with their friends were guests of Mr. Stillwell’s Welcome Club at a welcome home-party and dance m Wellington on Sunday night at the Mayfair' Cabaret, which was kindly lent by the management. Dancing to the music of George Moloney’s band, the men spent a happy time and greatly appreciated the hospitality extended to them. Supper and soft drinks were served free of charge. A dancing competition for furlough boys and their partners was won by Miss Zoe Read and Gunner C. Appleby. This was judged by L.A.G. Southern Coliedge, who recently returned on leave from overseas. Mrs. Colledge presented the competition prizes, a kiwi mounted on greenstone and a framed photograph of the Second N.Z.E.F. Stillwell Trophy. Pupils of Miss Hazel Martin entertained with tap ballets and dance numbers. During the evening the mayor, Mr. Hislop, Mr. Chapman, M.P, Mr. E. Foster (R.S.A.), with Mr. Stillwell,. the host, welcomed the men and their friends.
