ST. ANDREW’S GHURCH
T4oth Anniversary
. Yesterday there were large congregations in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wellington, at both the morning and the evening service, when the 104th anniversary of the church was commemorated. The services were conducted by the minister, the Rev. Brian Kilroy. The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall, were present at the morning service and .hjs Excellency read the lessons.
The subject of. the discourse at the morning service was “The Church and the World,” and the preacher, taking his text from the Bock of Ezekiel, spoke of the spiritual stream that flowed from beneath the altar, to bring strength and fruitfulness and an abundant life even to the arid places. .In the evening, Mr. Kili-oy took as his subject the work and service of Silas, who bjid helped and encouraged others, brought the brethren together in harmony and greatly strengthened their faith.
At both services fitting tribute was paid to the memory of the men and women who, in the long record of 104 years, had served their church faithfully aud well, being animated by the strong desire that it should have its place in their lives and in the life of the community.
