THEOSOPHICAL LECTURE
A lecture on the religion of the new world order was given by Mr. Geoffrey Hodson nt: the Theosophical .Society s rooms, Wellington. Mr. Hodson, who quoted <t statement bv St. Augustine that he essentials of Christianity existed among the ancients and had not been lacking from the beginnings of the human race, said that modern Christianity suffered from its present division into numerous denominations, its insistence upon blind faith in the face of incredible [doctrines and the absence of intellectually satisfying answers to the problems of life. The Ancient Wisdom would be free of these disabilities, would give practical guidance in every aspect of life and consolation in every sorrow. It would,be intellectually unassailable and not outrage reason, would never use the weapon of fear, of domination, or any other compulsion and would unite rather than divide mankind. Such a living Faith would be universal, it would administer the sacremental power and grace of Christianity, awaken men to the spiritual life and call them irresistably to mental co-opera-tion and service in recognition of the unity and solidarity of the human race.
