HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, February 18. Miss Helen Todd, Timaru, is celebrating her hundredth birthday. Born at Pittenreach, a village near Leven, in Scotland, on February IS, 1844, she spent her early days there. She went to Edm burgh to take up a position as a nurse girl, and afterward devoted her life to the care of infants. She came to New Zealand in the ’eighties, and later accepted a position as nurse to the five children of Sir Westby Brook-Perch al When he left for England as Agent-Gen-eral for New Zealand in 1891, Miss Todd went also, and returned two years later. She still has good eyesight and her hearing is not .greatly impaired. '
