Withdrawal From War Council
CANBERRA, February 18. The members of the Federal United Australia Party have instructed their representatives to withdraw from the Australian Advisory War Council. These representatives are Messrs Menzies, Hughes, and Spender. The decision was reached by 2o votes to 4, It is possible that similar action may be taken by the Country Party. The U.A.P. members emphasized that while the latest Ward incident had brought the matter to a head, it was not the major factor in their decision. They had been dissatisfied for some time with their continued association with the Government, which ‘bad become purely political. ____________
