POLISH ATTITUDE TO RUSSIA
Prime Minister Resigns LONDON, February 17. The Polish Prime Minister, M. Mikolajczyk, has resigned after a stormy Cabinet meeting at which he put forward proposals for a modification of the Polish official attitude to Russia. . He demanded first the sacking of the Polish Commander-in-Chief, . General Sosnkowski, and -the War Minister, General Qukiel; secondly, drastic changes’in the Polish general staff: and thirdly, an official instruction to the Polish resistance groups to do everything in their power to assist the advancing Red Army. He is stated to have declared that he is unable to accept responsibility for the Prime Ministership while members of the Government adopted such an uncompromising attitude to some of the proposals. Informed circles in London understand that it was the proposal to replace the generals which precipitated the resignation.
