New Regulations Gazetted REVIVAL OF CONTRACTS , Regulations gazetted last night dealing with the suspension , of apprenticeships consolidate and replace the 1939 tipprenticeship suspension regulations and sut>sequent amendments. The effect of the latest regulations as they amend the existing' law is as follows: If an apprentice at' any time within six months after his release from military service revives his contract of appreutiseship it is now to be revived for the term uuexpired at the date of suspension or tor three years, -whichever is the less. Ireviously an apprentice could revive a contract (a) till the date when it normally expired, or (b) for the period unexpired at the date of suspension or a portion of such period. The new regulations also provide that on revival of an apprenticeship the following conditions shall apply: First, if an apprentice is 21 years or the term of the apprenticeship contract has expired, he shall be paid by his employer at. a rate not less than the rate payable under the contract for the last six months of apprenticeship, plus one-third difference between that rate and a journeyman's rate. The Rehabilitation Board will provide the remaining two-thirds of such difference by way of subsidy, thus ensuring to any such discharged serviceman ft journeyman’s rate of wages. Secondly, in any other case an apprentice is to bi paid in accordance with his contract (being given credit under the apprenticeship for .the purpose of determining his remuneration for the time served in the forces) till the contract term has expired or he attains 21 years, whichever occurs first, and thereafter in accordance with the preceding paragraph. Thirdly, when an apprentice revives hi.-: contract under the regulations, an employer is now required to give written notice thereof to the'district registrar of ■apprentices. ,
