EXTRA BUTTER
Freezing Chamber Hands Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, February 17. ' Chamber hands employed in freezing works and cool stores throughout New Zealand comprise another section of the community to whom the Government has allowed an additional weekly butter ration. This privilege has been in operation since about January 20, and (he extra allowance of 4oz. weekly is the same as that earlier granted by the Government to coal miners and to bush workers in isolated districts. The extra ration was granted following representations tq the Minister -of Supply, Mr. Sullivan,- by (lie New Zealand Freezing Workers’ Federation ;>j December. The federation asked that the additional allowance be made avail able to. ail workers in the industry, but this request was declined, and the privilege was confined to the chamber hands only.
