OFFICE OF THE FOOD AND RATIONING CONTROLLER MEAT RATIONING Main Points to Remember 1. Meat Rationing comes into force on 6th March, 1944, and from that time onwards all meat will be rationed. 2. The following meats require the surrender of coupons: Beef, Veal, Mutton, Lamb and Pork, whether fresh, chilled, frozen, cooked, salted or minced. The following meats are coupon free: canned meats, sausages, sausage meat, tripe, liver, tongue, brains, kidney* heart, sweetbreads, oxtail, ox heel or cheek, cow heel, calf’s feet, sheep’s head, sheep’s trotters, pig’s head, pig’s trotters, pig’s hocks, stock bones (without meat), dripping, suet, poultry, rabbits, bacon, ham, small-goods, fish. The following meats are coupon free if sold for animal consumption: ox skirts, mutton skirts, mutton flaps, trimmings, bones, shin meat. 3. Until further notice the weekly ration will be: For all persons over 5 years of age, 1/9 worth per person per week. For children over 6 months and under 5 years on Ist January, 1944, lid. worth per week for each child. Special coupons in sheet form for adults and children will be issued through the local Rationing Offices in one week’s time to all consumers for inclusion in the current Ration Books. 4. Consumers will not be required to register with a retail butcher. Coupons may be redeemed with any retailer. 5. RESTAURANT MF.AT.S: Hotels and restaurants will collect coupons from customers supplied with meals containing a serving of couponed meats at the ' rate of 3d. for each meal. 6. It will be necessary for butchers, wholesale butchers and slaughter houses to apply to their local Rationing Offices for licenses. i 7. FARM KILLINGS: Farmers will be permitted to kill their own stock for •' I consumption on the premises and for supply to other farmers under a sharing arrangement. They will not be permitted to sell any meat except under permit. t The transfer of coupons away from the family circle is illegal.
