Champion Of Champions Singles Tournament A. C. McINTYRE THE WINNER

A feature of the Wellington Bowling Centre’s annual champion of cha “'t’V? i “ B singles tournament, conducted on the vic torla club's green yesterday, was the f,u -‘ cess of country representatives, four or whom went through to the semifinals. The semifinals both resulted in one-sided contests. Mclntyre proved much too good for A. D. Webster (Otakl Railway), Webster calling enough on the 19th end when the game stood at 22-11 in the Hutt man S favour. In the other semifinal W. Peters (Paekakariki) did some, brilliant drawing to outplay W. Venn (Khandallah). With the scores standing at 26-8 iu 1 eters favour Venn surrendered on the lith enu. With the score standing at 25-10 on the 18th bead, Peters struck Ills colours and was the first lo congratulate the 1914 champion of champions. After the tournament Mr. .1. Norrie, president of the Wellington Bowling Centre, said it was pleasing to see that the representatives of country clubs had done so well in the tournament. He congratula.ed Mr. Melhtyre oh his success, stating that the Hutt veteran was always a bard man to beat, as lie had inherited his dour determination from big ancestors. They were gratefill, lie said, for the work which had been done at the tournament by' .Mr. C. K. Ingram, secretary of the Wellington Bowling Centre, and Mr. J. Roberts, the umpire. The tournament concluded with eheers for the champion, of champions and the runner-up.
