ATTACK FORESTALLED
Valuable Convoy Escapes Damage (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 15. An Admiralty communique states:— “Naval aircraft operating from the escort-carrier H.MjS. Pursuer successfully defended a valuable Atlantic convoy against an attempted attackby an enemy mixed force of seven HeITT s and FW2oo’s. . . .. “The aircraft wrte sighted, when the convov was in position, about <j6u miles west of Cape Finisterre. Four Grumman Wildcat aircraft were flown oft . H.M.S. Pursuer to intercept,, and before ' the enemy could develop ,the attack they had shot down two TlelTT s and. one FW2OO. Hits were obtained on a second Focke-Wulf. The convoy was undamaged, and all our aircraft landed safely back on the carrier. .
