VISIT TO LONDON

Mr. Nash’s Purpose (By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright.) (Special Correspondent.) (Received February 15, 11 p.m.) LONDON, February 14. The chief purpose of the visit of the New Zealand Minister to Washington, Mr. Nash, to London, it is understood, is for important talks with Mr. Churchill. Mr. Nash has already met the Prime Minister twice since his arrival and conferred wiih the Dominions Secretary. Lord Cranborne. this morning. With reference to another meeting with Mr. Churchill, it is understood that they will discuss what Mr. Nash referred to last week as the “best war job” New Zealand Can do. Mr. Nash had a full round of engagements after his arrival, including an audience with the King at Buckingham Palace and a visit to the No. 11 group of the Fighter Command, where he lunched with Air Vice-Marshal H. W. L. Saunders and Air Marshal Sir Arthur Coningham and Lady Coningham. Tie later accompanied them to the control room and watched a big operation in progress. Mr. Nash also had talks with the de-pufy-Primc Minister, Mr. Attlee. RearAdmiral Sir William Parry, and Brigadier Hargest. He saw the Fabian Society exhibition. “World of Plenty,” and listened to an address by Sir .John Orr. One evening, the New Zealand High Commissioner. Mr. .lordan, presided at. a dinner at which Mr. Nash met six New Zealand agriculturists who have been in England, 'some time, and also Colonel E. Marsden. Another guest was Flight Lieutenant .1. Claridge, Palmerston North, who has been over Berlin seven times. Mr. Nash met him in the hotel lift, introduced himself, nsked Claridge to dine, and when he learnt that Claridge was a farmer suggested he attend the dinner with the agriculturists the following nigh t.
