The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, has accepted the office of patron of the Old Contemptibles’ Association (Wellington Branch) for a further term. His Excellency is himself an Old Contemptible. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, president of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, will leave Wellington for Christchurch today. Mr. A. H. Sincl has been appointed acting general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company on account of the absence through ill-health of Mr. C. M. Torrell.
