Food Rationing in India. Food rationing has begun in Karachi and in 13 other big towns in the Province of Sind. Sind is the first “surplus” province in India to ration foodstuffs. . ’ ‘ Grant for Jamaica. The biggest single grant made under the Colonial Development Welfare Act since it was passed in 1940 is one of £525,000 to Jamaica for agricultural development in the island over a period ot five years. U.S. War Casualties. United States merchant marine casualties from September 27, 1941, to February 1. 1944,' total 5501. it is announced from Washington. The figure comprises 684 dead, 4352 missing, end 566 prisoners of war. The casualties for January this year totalled 110.
