PRISONERS OF WAR
Notifications of transfers affecting I,‘>S New Zealanders previously in Italian prison camps have been received by the prisoners of war inquiry oflice. Of this number. 133 have been transferred to German prisoner of war camps, four are safe in Switzerland, and one safe with the Allies. The records show that during the last six weeks advise concerning the whereabouts of 9G2 of the prisoners has been received. Of the total number of New Zealanders in Italian ramps at the time of the capitulation. 2441 have been transferred to German camps, 194 are safe with the Allies, and 85 are in Switzerland, leaving approximately 1070 not yet accounted for. The majority of the men to be accounted for were located at the following camps: P.G. 107, 475 to be accounted for; P.G. 57, 289 to be accounted for; P.G, 120, 87 to be accounted forj P.G. 1 ()(),'6O to be accounted for; P.G. 85, 18 to be accounted for. No more than 12 men have yet to be accounted for from each of the other 47 camps where New Zealanders were officially reported to be located. ’■ The prisoners of war inquiry office advise the location’ of the following camps: Stalag XI A is situated at Altengrabrow, north of Magdeburg; Stalag XII A at Limburg, north-west of Frankfurt; and Stalag XII F at Bolchen, north-east of Metz.
