CITY THEATRES “The Pied Piper” (Plaza).— Monty Woolley. complete with hirsute adornment, in an appealing story of an Irascible Englishman, who guides five children to safety across Nazi-occupied France. “Bataan” (Majestic).—A wartime drama of the wen who fought the Japanese ou the Bataan peninsula. Robert Taylor plays the leading role. “A Yank in Dutch” (Kings).—An R,A.F. pilot lands in Holland to find hlmseit allied with a lovely saboteur fighting the Nazis. The film stars Franchot Tone and Joan Bennett. Next change is “Tales of Manhattan,” with a cast including Charles Bover, Rita Haywood, Ginger Rogers, Henry Fonda, Charles Laughton Edward G. Robinson, and Paul Robeson. “China Girl” (Statel.—Gene Tierney as a beautiful girl who Is the central figure in a dramatic- action-packed story of Japanese-occupied China. George Montgomery is the leading man. “Happy Go Lucky” (St. James). —A tuneful .technicolour musical with Mary Martin and Dick Powell at their singing best. Betty Hutton and Eddie Bracken provide the comedy. Next change is “Corvette K-225.” starring Randolph Scott. “Idaho” (De Luxe).—Another Western, this time with music, starring Roy Rogers and Virginia Grey. A thrilling mystery story, “Mantrap,” is the supporting feature. • _ s » “Coastal Command” (Opera House).—-A thrilling, documentary film of a little publicized branch of Britain’s air forces in action over convoys, and keeping the , sealanes clear. ' v “Rhythm On Ice” (Paramount).—iceskating champions brilliantly perform against spectacular backgrounds. Ellen Drew and Richard Denning star in an incidental story. “Flying Tigers” is the supporting feature. , “The Boogie Man Will Get You (Tudor). The screen’s masters of horror on a rampage of hilarious homicide. The supporting feature'is “Murder In Times Square.? “Commandos Strike At Dawu” (Tivoli).-— A moving story of Norwegian underground resistance to the Nazi invaders. Paul Muni and Anna Lee have the main parts. Joan Crawford stars in thee supporting feature, “A Woman's Face.” ‘
