Bombs Near Pope’s Villa At Castel Gandolfo

Bombs were dropped this morning for the third time ou the Papal property of Castel Gandolfo, announced the Vatican radio, adding that great damage was caused to the Propaganda College, which is directly connected with the Pope’s villa. They also hit three merchantmen off. Corsica and attacked Porto San Stefano. Gun positions and motor transport in the Cisterna area were bombed by lighter aircraft. One enemy aircraft was destroyed. We lost three.

“The Mediterranean air forces flew approximately 400 sorties. Enemy activity was on a very small scale.”

British And Partisan Units Off Dalmatian Coast (British Official Wireless.) , RUGBY, February 10. A Yugoslav Partisan communique states that Yugoslav and British units’ are operating successfully near Veliko Graolje, on the Dalmatian island of Hvar, south of Split. The communique adds that British naval units sank four German sailing boats off the coast, taking 85 Germans prisoner. U-BOAT~SINKINGS (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 10. It is revealed that the first U-boat kill by the Coastal Command this year was made by an R.A.A.F. Sunderland captained by Flyjng Officer J. P. Roberts, Sydney, after an encounter of GJ minutes. The flying-boat was undamaged, in .spite of the U-boat’s heavy fire. Forty survivors from the U-boat were seen in the water. It is also reported that aircraft from H.M.
