WAKE ISLAND RAIDED
(Received February 11, 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 10. Vice-Admiral Spruance, commander of the Central Pacific Fleet, has been promoted to a full admiral, and Rear-Admir-al Turner, commander of the amphibious forces which landed at Roi and Kwajalein, lias been promoted vice-admiral. A Pacific Fleet communique says:— "Coronado bombers raided Wake Island last night, scoring bomb hits on aerodromes and the barracks area. “Warhawk fighters, Slitchell medium bombers and Liberators dropped 114 tons of bombs on targets in the Marshall Islands.”
