HOSIERY COUPON
Availability Extended
Because a number of women in some centres have been unable to redeem, their hosiery coupons, the availability of coupon XIOI has been extended to run concurrently with coupon XlO2 for the next six mouths or longer, stated the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr. J. E. Thomas, yesterday. This decision replaced., the previous one relating to the expiry of coupon XlOl on January 31 last. "There are sufficient fully-fashioned stockings to meet the coupon issue in full, provided everyone purchases what stockings are available in their own districts,” said Mr. Thomas. “The shortage at the end of January in the main centres was caused through women in outlying districts coming to the centres, mainly during the holiday period, -to redeem their coupons, and also by the large proportion of coupon-holders leaving if till the last few days before making their purchases/*
