AWARD TO N.Z. NAVAL OFFICER
The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, has been advised by the Admiralty that His Majesty the King has approved of the award of Mention in Dispatches to Temporary Acting Lieutenant John Watson Tattersfield, R.N.Z.N.V.R., for good service in the attack on Salerno. Lieutenant Tattersfield was born on (September 4, 1916, and entered the Royal Navy on December 18, 1940, as an ordinary seaman, and was promoted to commissioned rank in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve on September 18, 1942. His father is Mr. James W. Tattersfield, National Bank Building, Shortland Street, Auckland.
