ADDINGTON STOCK SALE!

(By’ Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 19. At the Addington market the store sheep entry totalled 9200, including 816 a lambs. The quality of these showed an improvement, and some large station lines met with a keen sale. The attendance again included southern buyers, one large line being bought for Invercargill. Prices generally showed a slight advance on those of last week, and the fact that they hardened toward the close indicated that many buyers were unable to fill their requirements. The best price was 20/- for 4»1 halfbred wether lambs. Other good lots ran from 17/2 to 19/3 medium. 14/6 to 16/9, and small down to 8/9. Though only a few adult sheep were yarded, competition was keen and did not show any —The entry of 4000 included more wethers than for some time past. These were mostly of medium quality, and only pens showing weight attracted competition. Ewes were again in big supply, but in their case also only the best sheep were sought after by the trade. The best price for wethers was 43/1 aud for ewes 28/1, and the best hoggets made from 33/4 to 38/1. Fat Cattle.—The entry of 612 compared with 538 last week and 690 two weeks ago. The big yarding exceeded the demand and there was a further easing on that of last week. Good steers were down by up to 30/- a head and medium steers and heavy cows showed a bigger drop. All classes were affected. Cows again provided a fair proportion of the entry. Best beef made from 46/- to 49/- per 1001 b., good 43/- to 45/-, medium quality to 42/-; medium to good cow beef 36/to 38/-, secondary to 34/-, inferior down to 27/-. Fat Pigs.—Competition was keen In the porker entry and last week’s drop of 3/a head was recovered. Competition was also brisk in the bacon section, all classes being readily sold at an advance of from A/- to 5/- a head on last week’s figures. , ?Jb^verag2j2rßo_petA|i A
