Wins For Thoroughbreds Bought In N.Z. Seventeen yearlings were bought for Indian racing men at’ last year’s: sales, and.are being trained in various pafts of the country. Messrs. F. J. Savage and Sons. Revelation, who was selected in England by Mr. C. E. Robertson in 1939, did not win ut further than a mile, but his halfbrother. Wlthln-the-Law, won the Yorkshire Cup,, two miles, and other sons jof Manna, like Colombo, Man's Pal and Manitoba, are all siring stout horses. Among the live yearlings by Revelation to be sold on the second day of the shies next Week is a sister to Black Simon, and aubther filly closely related to this winner. The colts by him are Out of the Selgfrjcd mare Sicga, a half-Sistcr to the Douho and Rangitikel Cup winner Gay Fox, and the Pombal mare, Bello Caste, whose dam, Caste, by Posterity from Cowl, is a halfsister to Vellinond’s dam, Veil, and many other high-class performers. There is also a bay filly out of Min Lu, a King Lu mare from the same family as Lord Chancellor. and Happy Ending. Black Simon is raced in New Zealand on behalf of the Indian owners, Messrs. F. G. Travers and V. Rosenthal, by Mr. C. E. Robertson; who bought Black Simon at the sales last year On their behalf for 120gns. For the same owners Mr. Robertson also secured Brolelov for 450gns. This colt is by Broiefort from the French-bred mare. Karlova, a daughter of Clarlsslmus. Brolelov won three two-year-old races at the Taranaki metings over the holidays. Chelandry Blood. Very few descendants in direct line of the great brooil mare, Chelandry. reached the Dominion. The most notable was her grand-daughter. Simper, who loft many good winners for Air. IV. T. Hazlett. Her son. Sir Simper, sired both first and second in thus year's Grand National Steeplechase —Anglo-French and Noko. In Australia descendants of Simper winning last season included Taramba (by Man’s Pall, who took Australia's longest distance race, the Australian Cup. and Flight, by Royal Step (son of Heroic), who was the greatest money-winning two-year-old with £3889 in stakes. Another descoudiint of Chelandry will be represented at the coming sales. This is the young imported mare. Miss Stefan. Iler attractive ba.v lily is also inbred to Chelandry. as she is ' by the promising young sire, Te Hero, son of Heroic. Miss Stefan is by Stefan the. Great (sire of the dam of Blue Peter and ■ Neptuhe), one of the noted sons of The Tetrarch. Mares by Stefan the Great, who was a prolific sire of winners after he was sent to America, are leaving outstanding winners there also. The Miss Stefan filly, though a November foal, is a well-turned filly with great galloping .ability in the paddock. If given time she should make a name for herself on the racecourse, and later on will be invaluable for the brood mare’s paddock., AU the dams in the pedigree have been noted performers or famous producers.
