FURLOUGH PARTY
Arrangements For Return
Of Remainder
“Arrangements are now being made for the return on furlough of the remaining members of the first, second, and third echelons of the Second N.Z.E.F., and the great majority will come in the next draft,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, yesterday. He added that General Frey'berg had informed him that it, would be necessary to hold back some officers and other key personnel, but that these would be relieved as early as Possible and be sent to New Zealand in small parties subsequently to the next large draft. The Minister said that the recent extension of leave granted to the men on furlough from the Middig East was necessary on account of a change in the shipping arrangements. As soon as it was known that shipping was available the men would be advised cf the date on which they would be called into camp.
