Late News BREAKTHROUGH BY ALLIES

On To Plain Of Naples NAZIS ABANDON HILL LINE LONDON, September 29. Troops of the Fifth Army have broken through the German defences and captured Nocera and Castellamare, reports a correspondent at the Allied headquarters in North Africa. The spearhead is now only 17 miles from Naples, and other troops are pouring down from the passes on to the plain of Naples. In the last six days we have advanc. ed only 10 miles, and the fighting has been bitter each day, but it is expected, that the movement now will be swift. The Germans, when they realized theycould hold their defence line no longer, - made a fast and orderly withdrawal. Thedefences which have been pierced are the.last line before Naples and. probably last defences before the River Volternor, is reached 20 miles to the north of the city, says the correspondent.
